Scott and I want to thank all the guys that came out yesterday to play some softball! They started with a "round robin" and from there moved into the tournament. The games started at 10am - on the nose - and it was 3:30pm before ANY of the teams sat down. These guys are in it for the love of the sport - wow! We met several folks that are planning on attending next weeks CO-ED fundraising tournament too. The few we spoke with have "broken out" their core teams so that they can have more teams participate - which mean more money is being raised for Scott's medical costs and his transplant. The thanks to all of you are endless and from the bottom of our hearts - THANK YOU!!

For those planning on attending the Co-Ed next weekend - Sat, June 6th a few things...The Heard County Recreation Center just built a new facility. The tourney is being played at the OLD facility. There is NO signage at the entrance to the OLD facility. Here's the trick, when you find the river in Franklin you've fo...und the correct facility. The ball feild facility are right next to the river. The park also has a playground for kids and a skate park for teens. You can also fish along the river - but you must have a current fishing license. There is also a boat ramp - for you, should you be interested.

The ball fields are fully exposed to the weather. Yesterday we had wonderful weather, but full sun - all day. Please plan accordingly with clothes, hats and sunscreen! There is a concession stand. They have water, powerade, and sodas. The also sell candy, snacks, hotdogs and hamburgers. Again, plan accordingly - coolers are welcome.

So I can hear Scott sleeping - I'm in the living room. Snores are back. I think he's been off his pain medications for 2 days now. I'm detecting a touch of the sleep apnia too. I was hoping this wouldn't happen, with him coming off the pain medicaine. However, we KNEW the surgery was not going to be a cure, just h...elpful. I guess we'll just wait until his sleep study to see how much he's improved.

We've also had a great donation week this week - mostly from Scott's extended family and long time family friends.

We've been working on getting a aproximate total for our fundraising needs - trust me there's more to this than you would think. We've made headway on the total and we've made headway on the totals raise...d. I'm aiming to start posting percentage markers for everyone very soon - to let everyone know how it's going on that side of it. Thx!

This week has been a good week. We managed to get all the stuff lined up for both the softball tournaments or at least moving in that direction. The local vendors have been a huge help - most went way beyond what we asked of them. Scott and I are both getting excited to attend both.

Scott's had a pretty decent week. ... He electively started coming off his pain meds - so we've had some of the grumbly Scott this week, the "I don't feel good" Scott, but that's all part of it. Another week or so and he'll be back to himself. He is still not snoring anywhere close to where he was prior to the surgery, but I can't tell on the sleep apnia. I want to wait until he's completely off the pain meds and then a few more days.

The donate Life is to get people to sign up to be Organ and Tissue Donors. Last year at the softball tounaments we had a few people sign up but I'm planning on WORKING IT this time with both tournaments.

We are starting week three of Scott's recovery from the tonsillectomy and we are seeing some improvements already. He's hardly snoring at all right now which is just great. Of course we'll have to wait until he's off the pain medication to determine if it's the surgery that's making the impact or the pain meds. He'll have another sleep study done in a couple of months - after a full recovery - to see if there's improvement there. His last sleep study determined he stopped breathing about 40 times per hour, which led us into deciding to have the tonsillectomy as an option for improvement. We'll not get 100% improvement, but if we can get 30% - 50% then the surgury was worth the time, effort and pain (easy for me to say right)!

We want Scott to be in the best possible place health wise at the time of transplant so that everything has a better shot of taking. Another improvement this past week is that he seems to be more energetic. He's been electivlly doing small chores here at the house as well as initiating afternoon walks. So for now we are thrilled with the improvements.

A final note for today - we've decided to do raffles at both softball tournaments in hopes to raise a few more dollars. I'm am excited to report that stores at the local level, in ,Carrollton and LaGrange, are assisting us with our fundraising effort to help Scott. So far we've got Chick-Fil-A and Publix gift certific...ates as well as items from the Publix Bakery to sell at both tournaments. I've got several more stores to reach out to this week in hopes of having more items to raffle off.

Scott's pain medication keeps him from driving so I've added the Chauffeur hat into my rotation this week. He has dialysis three times a week and that's at least an hour round trip for me. Then I have to pick him up it 5:30am. On top of that he's had three doctor's appoinments this week. Bless all you mothers whose children participate in ...extra-curricular activities...whew! Tuesday was the follow-up on the tonsillectomy - Scott got a "perfect!" Ataboy :). Today we had the kidney (nephrologist) and the diabetes (endocrinologist) doctor appointments. Both appointments went fine, except that Scott missed a dose of pain medication during the night (he insists that he can manage his medicine - okay) so he was in a LOT of pain. At the diabetes doctor he got sick during the appointment. Can't imagine that felt good on his throat. Once we finished with the doctor they drew blood to run labs. We didn't know they were planning to draw bloodScott had not eaten anything today. Guess who just about passed out.

On a touching note - Scott's diabetes doctor today - the LPN (I think that's her title) offered to make us a hand knit blanket to raffle off at a later date to help us raise funds. It made me cry, so touching.

Scott came home, rather suddenly, Tuesday, from the hospital. The doctors in ICU felt he was well enough to be released to a regular room - and the doctors for the regular room felt he was well enough to come home. I've never known anyone to be released from a hospital from the ICU floor. Even the nurse was a bit taken aback - she hadn't processed discharge paperwork in quite some time.

He's been doing well this week. With the regular schedule for dialysis back in place Scott went in Tuesday evening. All the layers of pain medication from the hospital were removed and he was not felling too great Wednesday morning. He's felling a bit better everyday though. Another five to ten days and he should be back to normal.

As a bonus he's dropped four of the twelve pounds he needs to lose for his transplant - yea!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Scott's tonsillectomy went well yesterday. The doctor told me post op that it was most likely his uvula that was contributing to the sleep apnia - it was larger than normal. Scott's goal with this surgury was to get a better night's sleep. His sleep study showed that he stops breathing up to 40 time per hour during any... given night's sleep. With the upcoming transplant Scott wants to alleviate any negative medical issues if possible before the transplant. As an added bonus, Scott needs to lose about 10 - 15 ponds to satisfy his transplant team. With the tonsillectomy he should drop at least half of that this coming week.

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. Now if we can just find his clothes - they got moved between post-op and dialysis at the hospital yesterday and haven't been located...
